Frequently Asked Questions
Is The Birth Class right for me?
Yes — The Birth Class is for everyone! All backgrounds, body types, and birth preferences welcome and encouraged. Whether this is your first pregnancy or your fourth, our unique approach to integrating comprehensive childbirth education with Breathwork and mind-body awareness is designed to meet you exactly where you are.
This class supports all birth settings — hospital, home, or birth center. Our goal is to prepare you for birth as it actually happens: with confidence, flexibility, and presence, no matter where or how it unfolds.
When is the best time in my pregnancy to enroll?
While mindfulness and gentle movement are safe throughout pregnancy, some of the Breathwork practices in this class are not recommended during the first trimester. For this reason, we require participants to be at least 13 weeks pregnant at the start of class. The content is specifically designed to support people in their later second or third trimester.
Do I need to sign up for another childbirth education in addition to this one?
No, The Birth Class is designed to be comprehensive (and beyond!). With over a decade of experience supporting births, Hannah covers the essential information you actually need — from when to head to the hospital or birth center, to how to effectively communicate with any member of your healthcare team. We focus on what matters and skip the rest.
Additionally, our focus on mind-body integration and values clarification will help you and your partner be able to adapt to your birth as it unfolds in real time without clinging to ideas of what it “should” be. This is the essential teaching of The Birth Class.
How much does the class cost? Are scholarships available?
We believe everyone deserves access to meaningful birth preparation. The full cost of the 6-week class is $500, which includes all materials and resources. Sliding scale and scholarship spots are available — no application necessary. If cost is a barrier, please reach out. We’re happy to work with you to find a way forward.
Can my partner attend with me?
Yes! We strongly encourage (cough *expect) partners to attend. This class is designed for both of you. Partners will learn practical tools like how to offer physical support, guided breath, and most importantly, how to stay grounded and calm when their loved one is in distress.
Birth can be intense, emotional, and unpredictable — having a partner who feels prepared and confident can make all the difference.
Do I need to be experienced in mindfulness or Breathwork?
Not at all. No prior movement, yoga, or mindfulness experience is required. Everything we teach is accessible, trauma-informed, and designed for pregnant bodies at all stages of ability. You’ll always be encouraged to listen to your body and modify as needed.
What if I have a high-risk pregnancy?
Depending on your situation, this class may still be a supportive resource. We recommend checking with your provider, and we’re happy to discuss whether the class is a good fit for you. Feel free to reach out to us directly.
What makes The Birth Class different?
The Birth Class goes beyond standard childbirth education. In addition to covering essential birth knowledge, we focus on mind-body integration and values clarification — so you and your partner can stay grounded and adaptable as your birth unfolds.
Rather than clinging to an idea of how birth should go, you’ll develop the skills to be with it as it is. This is the heart of our work — and the essential teaching of The Birth Class.
I’ve had a traumatic birth in the past. Is The Birth Class right for me?
Yes. Many people who join us have experienced previous births that were overwhelming, confusing, or traumatic. This class offers a compassionate space to build new tools, reconnect with your body, and prepare differently this time — without bypassing what you’ve been through.
While The Birth Class is not a replacement for therapy, our focus on mindfulness, Breathwork, and mind-body awareness can be deeply healing and empowering as you prepare to give birth again.
What if I - or my partner - can’t make every class?
We understand that life happens. While we encourage attending all six sessions to get the full experience, missing a class doesn’t mean you’ll fall behind. Each week builds on the last, but also stands on its own.
We provide recaps, take-home resources, and guided practices so you can stay connected to the material even if you need to miss a week. If you know in advance you’ll miss a session, just let us know — we’ll make sure you’re supported.
